Talladega Superspeedway has partnered with InStadiumSolutions (“ISS”) to implement a text-message based communication system at their facility. The service debuts next weekend, October 30 – November 1, at Talladega, host to the Mountain Dew 250 fueled by Fred’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race and the AMP Energy 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
The text messaging system allows fans to communicate directly with the racetrack’s command post if assistance is needed in dealing with any special needs inside the facility.
“In our continuing efforts to provide thrilling and safe guest experiences, we are extremely pleased to debut this innovative technology at Talladega this weekend.  It further demonstrates our focus on providing a safe, enjoyable and unforgettable race experience for our guests,” said Talladega Superspeedway President Rick Humphrey.  “ISS’ text messaging system allows fans to communicate instantly with our command center and receive immediate assistance at their location.
“InStadiumSolutions is thrilled to partner with Talladega Superspeedway and give their fans the ability to report, within seconds, unruly fans, medical emergencies and any other track issues directly to the venue’s command center.  We know the Superspeedway is always looking to improve the guest experience and our Fan Text Messaging System will help do just that,” said ISS’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Meyers.
Texting instructions will be placed prominently throughout each facility via static signage and will be regularly broadcast through audio and video public announcements.

The ‘Who Done It’ contest has ended. We have a winner! Congrats to Donna from Walker, LA for having the correct answer first.
The final question was: What thing caused Talladega Superspeedway challenges for its first 33 years?
The answer is: A pipe
Before the track was built in 1968, an open-ended pipe that had been around since WWII was buried underground that was never discovered when building Talladega Superspeedway. It was never determined what the original purpose of the pipe was and why it had never been identified before. The pipe continued to leak water and track staff tried to treat the water issue without success. The root of the problem was not discovered till 2002. They pipe was filled with grout eliminating the problem.
We had several answers that were posted before that were close, but not quite what we were looking for. Congrats to Donna! She will be enjoying her Grand Prize next week at the AMP Energy 500!
